Noopept, which is chemically called N-Phenylacetyl-l-prolylglycine ethyl ester, is being investigated for its nootropic properties. This chemical was originally developed in Russia, following the development of many racetam chemicals and their analogues.
Technically, Noopept converts to cycloprolylglycine. This compound is also known as GVS-111 and omberacetam. However, it is most widely known as Noopept.

Existing research has shown that Noopept has further mechanisms of action. It enhances the expression and levels of BDNF and NGF in the brain, primarily in the hippocampus. BDNF stands for brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and NGF stands for nerve growth factor. Noopept has also shown its ability to reduce inflammatory indicators that may be induced by stress. This is the basis for Noopept showing neuroplasticity effects.
