ADRAFINIL LIQUID SOLUTION

Adrafinil was discovered in France in 1974.

Adrafinil ({diphenylmethyl}sulfinyl-2 acetohydroxamic acid; Olmifin) converts in vivo to Modafinil by way of endogenous enzymatic metabolism. It is a compound that has been studied for its stimulant, wakefulness, and alertness-promoting properties. A small percentage of Adrafinil is metabolized into a secondary metabolite called modafinilic acid, although this is not widely discussed within the scientific and research community.

Adrafinil functions via postsynaptic α-adrenergic activity. Studies have confirmed this using prazosin (a α1 antagonist), yohimbine (α2 antagonist), and phenoxybenzamine (unselective α-antagonist), which have been shown to block some of the effects of Adrafinil in animal studies. This class of compounds was developed in an effort for scientists to isolate and prolong the wakefulness promoting properties of something like caffeine, while minimizing peripheral over-stimulation. In essence, this means that Modafinil, Adrafinil, and similar analogues are more targeted in their functionality toward specific receptor activity. When comparing further to something like caffeine, caffeine affects many different systems and thus has its limitations. Adrafinil has become very popular in research for its nootropic properties. Further research is still needed on Adrafinil specifically, as it is not as widely studied as Modafinil.
